Project Concept
This new construction project required a complete impact-rated window and door package installed to Florida building code standards. The two-story residence featured a modern architectural design with large window openings and floor-to-ceiling glass, demanding precise installation and thorough weatherproofing to protect against hurricane conditions. The scope included both standard windows and oversized sliding glass door systems, with full preparation for the stucco exterior finish.

Our process
We began by preparing all window openings with proper flashing techniques — flash tape on the second floor and liquid flashing on the first floor openings to ensure watertight seals. New pressure-treated wood bucks were installed at each opening to provide solid anchoring for the window frames. Each impact window and sliding door system was then carefully set, leveled, shimmed, and secured according to manufacturer specifications. All units were caulked with high-quality sealant rated for Florida's climate. To prepare for the stucco finish, we installed metal lath and corner beads around all opening edges and at the corners of the house, ensuring clean lines and proper substrate for the stucco application.

The Outcome
The completed installation provides the homeowners with a full envelope of hurricane protection while maximizing natural light throughout the home. Every window and door was installed to meet Florida's stringent wind-load requirements, with proper documentation for permitting and inspection. The meticulous prep work — from flashing to corner beads — ensures the stucco finish will adhere properly and the home will remain watertight for years to come. This project demonstrates Urrako's capability to handle large-scale new construction window packages with the same attention to detail we bring to residential remodels.
